A Story Rooted in Community
The story of Whitfield's Flowers began back in the 1950s, when local florist Todd McCloud opened a small shop called Todd's Flowers. By the late 1960s, Todd passed the business onto a relative, Kenneth Whitfield McCloud, who eventually gave the shop its now-iconic name: Whitfield's Flowers. Since 1970, the shop has remained a community staple under that moniker, delivering the freshest blooms with heart and dedication.
Through changing ownership over the years, one thing has remained constant at Whitfield's Flowers: our dedicated team and loyal customers. In 2011, the business found new life under family ownership once again, restoring its personal soul and community-driven spirit.
In July 2025, Jason and Shannon VanGotten became the proud owners of Whitfield's Flowers, following Shannon's deeply fulfilling career as a pediatric nurse. She fell in love with floristry in high school while completing a floral design and horticulture vocational program alongside the traditional curriculum. She quickly discovered a passion for the craft and continued working in the field into early adulthood. Over the years, she found herself missing the energy of flower shops, the scent of fresh blossoms, and the emotional joy that comes when customers pick up their arrangements. Jason brought years of experience in operational efficiency to the vision, supporting Shannon's dream wholeheartedly with both his expertise and his belief in investing fully in something meaningful.
Together, Jason and Shannon sat down with the previous owners, ensuring a shared vision for the future of Whitfield's Flowers. Legacy mattered. So did the team — every staff member stayed on, including a designer who has been with the shop since the McCloud era. Today, Whitfield's Flowers continues to bloom, rooted in history, fueled by passion, and guided by the belief that flowers make life's most meaningful moments even more beautiful.
